Bedroom trends for 2023

Interior designers agree that you should consider updating and redecorating your bedroom every three to four years. Bedrooms are a sanctuary for relaxation but are often the last room in the house to get refreshed.

When was the last time you redecorated your bedroom?

Within this blog, we will delve into this year’s trend predictions to create the most peaceful in-house retreat.

Much like living and dining room trends in 2023, our interior designers at INDESIGN FURNITURE/CHILLI PEPPER DESIGNS believe muted and neutral colours will be widely used to bring tranquillity into the room. Earthy shades named after natural substances will be prelevant, such as ‘wheat’, ‘almond’, ‘pine’ and ‘stone’. Differing from the colour scheme of living rooms, we expect to see darker colours used in the bedroom to promote relaxation and a crepuscular atmosphere. Warming tones of amber, plum and sienna will add depth to the lighter neutrals. Lighting also plays a key factor in the atmosphere of a room, by adding warm soft-glow bulbs to existing lighting brings out red tones and again creates a deepened sense of serenity.

Due to the current economic problems the UK is experiencing, we also believe that people will be updating smaller details of a room with the goal of creating a more luxurious space. Linen bedding is always a fan favourite to add opulence to a room, adding a neutral shade allows for the exploration of different pillows and throughs, which can also alter the appearance of the room. These smaller additions can also consist of adding accessories such as mirrors, wall art and storage, in which we expect to see curved, scalloped and liquid shapes dominating.

Consumers are becoming more aware of sustainability and a product’s environmental credentials. Therefore, when buying new furniture, they may opt for investment pieces, that are durable and made from recyclable and sustainable materials. The search for wood, marble and stone trended in 2022 and continues to increase through 2023.

Minimalism has been seen through interior design for the last few years and doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. The perception of minimalism has adapted, from being uncomfortable and empty, it now embraces relaxed material and comfort. Storage units are a great way of masking unwanted clutter and making the space look tidy and elegant, which contributes to calming space to enter.

It’s important that your bedroom is considered your safe space, a time to wind down and relax. Even if you don’t want to follow the trends, it’s good to consider your bedroom your sanctuary.
